Who I Am
I live in Washington, D.C., but I’m really from the Midwest. The really cold part of the Midwest.
I have published some stuff. Lots of short stories. I’m working on a novel. Well, duh.
Bla Bla Bla Awards Stuff: I’ve been nominated for two Pushcarts and for the Dzanc’s Best of the Web; I was a top ten finalist for the 2011 StorySouth Million Writers Award; and one of my stories made Wigleaf’s Top 50 Very Short Fictions of 2011.
I am the fiction editor at Emprise Review.
I’m a contributor at two literary blogs, Big Other and Vouched.
I love books and art and politics and grammar and theater and music and video games and history and technology and all kinds of movies, especially monster movies and noir and spaghetti westerns and the Marx Brothers.
I have a lot of literary heroes. A partial list: Lu Xun, Italo Calvino, Wallace Stevens, Mo Yan, Phillip K. Dick, E. Nesbitt, Beckett, Pinter, Ashbery, Ionesco, Dinesen, Rimbaud, Kafka, Woolf, Hemingway, Hopkins, Valery, Borges. And a million others I’m forgetting.
My political hero is the late Senator Paul Wellstone.
My favorite superhero is Batman.
